MSU/Anschutz Program for Meaningful Undergraduate Research Experiences
Our vision
Nearly every scientist can point to the moment when they got their first result or were struck by the first spark of discovery or walked into a lab that felt like home. Our vision is to give MSU-Denver undergraduates an opportunity to experience the same joys of scientific exploration.
MAP Scholars
MAP Scholars will carry out meaningful and paid research experiences in labs at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical School campus. General Track MAP Scholars will learn the fundamentals of lab work during a shorter, semester-long program, while Research Track MAP Scholars will learn and then direct their own project over the course of their 15-month internship.
Other activities, such as seminars from visiting professors or workshops on applying to graduate school, round out the program to enable the future success of MAP scholars.
Applying to be a MAP Scholar
Applications are due in the fall for the Research Track program, and every December and June for the General Track Program. No prior research experience is needed, and applicants will be primarily judged on their enthusiasm and motivation for participating in the program. Students from historically underrepresented groups (e.g., students from racial and ethnic groups such as Black or Hispanic, students with disabilities, or first-generation students) are especially encouraged to apply. Applications for the 2022 Cohort are now open and are due by December 1, 2021.
